How do I book? You have two options for booking, depending on what you would like to order. If you would like a bespoke cake, cupcakes or biscuits designed especially for your recipient, then please fill out an enquiry form on the website. Please include as much information as possible, such as number of servings, cake flavour and design/theme. We will get in touch with you via email as soon as possible after your enquiry is received, and begin the designing process. Alternatively, you can look at our Ready To Order cakes, biscuits and brownie trays which can be ordered directly through our website. These items can still have personalised details (e.g. names, age, different toppings). This is a quicker process, so is better suited for cakes with fairly short notice. We do still require at least 1 weeks notice on these cakes, and they are subject to availability.
-
How much are your bakes? Please see our cakes, cupcakes or biscuits webpage for details about cake size and prices. The cost of each bespoke cake is different, and depends on the size and design complexity.
-
How much notice do you require? All cakes are booked on a first-come, first-served basis, so the earlier you enquire the better your chance of availability on your chosen date. We can have last-minute availability on occasion, so please do get in touch and check. Our Ready To Order non-bespoke range is available to book on our website, but we require at least a weeks notice. For wedding cakes, we open our diary for the following year each January (so in January 2025 our 2026 wedding diary opens).
-
Do you cater for allergies or dietary requirements?ABCakes works from a kitchen which handles all allergens, so cannot guarantee the absence of any allergen in bakes. Some items can be altered to cater for dietary requirements (e.g. vegan shortbread biscuits, or cakes baked with gluten free flour), but these items are not suitable for people with allergies due to the allergens being present within the environment. To discuss your requirements, please get in touch with ABCakes through an enquiry form.
-
Do you need a deposit?Yes, all bespoke orders of £35 or more are only booked in once a non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of 50% the order value has been paid. Payment should be made via bank transfer, and details for this will be sent over to you once all details for the order have been discussed. For bespoke orders under the value of £35, we require full payment to secure your booking. Any orders placed online for non-bespoke, set design items are paid in full via the website to secure the booking.
-
Do you deliver? Our cupcakes, biscuits and celebration cakes (up to two tiers tall) are collection only from Littleport, Ely. For cakes of 3 tiers or more, delivery and set up at the venue is required and will be quoted for when you book. All wedding cakes are delivered and set up by Alex. The price for this will be included in your quote.
-
What is your cancellation policy for bespoke bakes? All deposits are non-refundable and are only transferable to a new date if more than 4 weeks notice is given before collection or delivery date in writing, and if ABCakes has availability to fulfil the order on the new date. If the new date isn't available, this will result in a cancellation, and there will be no refund of your deposit. All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable within 4 weeks of arranged collection or delivery date. Any cancellations within 7 days of arranged collection or delivery date and time will result in the full balance being due, as work will have started towards your cake and ingredients purchased.

I am getting married - when should I book?Firstly - congratulations! Thank you for considering ABCakes for your wedding cake. Our wedding diary opens for for the following year each January, so in January 2025 our 2026 wedding calendar opens. We recommend you get in touch early January the year before your wedding to secure your date, as we are limited to how many wedding cakes we can book each week. We also sometimes have availability at shorter notice, with Winter 2024 and Summer 2025 dates available to book now, so please fill out an enquiry form to check if your date is available.
-
Do you offer cake tastings? We create taster boxes at least twice a year for wedding couples to order, but these are also available to purchase if you would just like to try a variety of ABCakes' delicious flavours!

How does collection work? When you have confirmed your booking, ABCakes collection address will be sent to you. Please ensure you stick to your agreed collection date and time. If you are early, your cake may not be ready for you. If you are late, we may not be here. Once you have knocked, Alex will greet you and show you a picture of your finished cake, or open the box so you can see it (depending on how it is packaged). Advice on storing the cake will be given, and you will be made aware of any non edible elements that need removing before serving. A Cake Care Guide will be attached to your box as a reminder of how to look after your cake. Your cake will be handed to you to carry to your car - please always carry your cake by the bottom of the box as instructed by Alex. Holding the sides can knock the sides of your cake.
-
How do I transport my cake safely? Please be aware that once we hand over your cake, it is your responsibility to keep it safe. We recommend transporting cakes in the front passenger footwell or secured on the floor in the boot of a cold car. It must be flat whilst transporting, and air conditioning must be running. You should not stop anywhere on your journey home and leave the cake in the car - buttercream can melt when it gets warm.
-
How long do cakes last?Buttercream cakes should be stored in the fridge to prevent the cake melting in Summer months. Bring your cake to room temperature for half an hour before serving. Fondant cakes or cakes with edible prints can also be kept in the fridge, but humidity from your fridge can cause fondant decorations to wilt so the cake MUST be kept in the box, packaged as provided to you. Cakes stay fresh for up to 5 days after collection if left uncut in the fridge. Once sliced, the cake should be wrapped to prevent it drying out, and can be kept in the fridge to lengthen the shelf life.
-
How long do cupcakes last?Cupcakes will stay fresh for up to three days from collection. They should not be kept in the fridge, as this can dry them out.
